About Us

Larry Mussche & Tami Marshall, co-owners

Hi! We are the co-owners of Buy the Book Coffeehouse and we are also engaged to be married! We have four children between the two of us, James, Jynsen, Tristan, and Lexi.  They keep us busy, plus Larry works construction, trims trees as a side business, and Tami is a Registered Nurse.   We, (obviously), love books and coffee!  We  love owning our own business in our hometown, serving our local community.  But, most of all,we are so grateful for the people we have met through our business and all the unforgettable bonds that have been created.  This truly has been the greatest experience and we hope that we can continue to give back to those that have touched us.

Larry & Tami

Hello, everybody! My name is Alicia Evans and I am the Activities Coordinator at Buy The Book. I am probably best known by others for my quippy and witty t-shirts and for always having a book in my hand. I read almost everything, but especially enjoy fantasy and science fiction novels. I have a cat named Sprocket who is known for stealing things and being a general sneak. An adorable one, though! I enjoy working at this store because it helps me to learn new things and meet new people. I’m really looking forward to getting involved with the community through lots of fundraisers and other events. Hopefully I’ll see you there!

Hi! My name is Aleksandra (Aleks) Kasztalska and I’m one of the two new bloggers that will be keeping you updated on coffee and book-related news this summer. I have just received my Master’s degree from Purdue and I am about to start on my PhD – both in Linguistics. As you may have guessed, I’m a huge language buff and one of my greatest passions is learning foreign languages. When I’m not practicing some obscure verb conjugations, I’m most likely engaging in other nerdy linguistic activities with my nerdy linguistic friends and boyfriend. I also love reading: Stephen King, Greg Keyes, Oliver Sacks, J.K. Rowling, Oscar Wilde, Kurt Vonnegut, Hiromu Arakawa… The list goes on. When I need a break from the written word, I like to relax watching a silly/suspenseful/thought-provoking movie, listening to my mp3 player on shuffle, taking artsy photos, cooking, running, consuming chocolate and juggling. I’m also a big drinker of tea and, to some extent, coffee, so I’ve been really enjoying (wo)manning the BTB stand at the Saturday Farmers’ Markets in Lafayette. I hope to see you around the internets or at the Market/our store!

Greetings! I’m Mike Maune, blogger extraordinaire and slammer of poems. I co-write the Buy the Book blog with Aleks, MC the monthly open mic, and serve coffee each week at the Farmer’s Market. When not saving Greater Lafayette from lack-of-coffee-and-poetry, I’m a graduate student in Linguistics at Purdue University. In the future, I hope to pursue my PhD in Educational Linguistics. This combines two scholarly interests: teaching and words. I’m a licensed 6-12 English teacher and hope to be a teacher educator one day. My love of words also keeps me regularly writing poetry and sharing it at our monthly open mic. You could also call me quite the nerd; I frequently peruse the sci-fi section, mainly focusing on Star Trek but also enjoy Star Wars (see, peace on Earth is possible). My caffeinated beverage of choice is a regular cup of joe, cream and sugar. Hope to see you sometime in a galaxy far, far away or at one of our open mics!
